Making a decal kit for a WaveRunner was alot more fun then I thought it would be. First step was to remove all the decals. This was simple, took 5 minutes and the decals came off like they were just put on days ago (this is a 2002 btw) I then wiped the entire ski down with adhesive remover, then wiped it with alcohol. Not Bud Light!

I then started to make the templates using transfer tape. This worked out absolutely perfect as my transfer tape is cheap and curves slightly.

Once all the templates were drawn up I then stuck each template one by one to the garage door. I used a magnetic ruler to stick along side the graphic for correct sizing. I then took my camera and took a shot of the template from about 15 feet away. Make sure you have a really high resolution camera so you can zoom in on the picture with Photoshop to see the rulers measurements.

Once you have taken pictures of all the template pieces it is now time to bring them into photoshop. Using Photoshops built in ruler guides I made guide lines every 1 inch for just a few inches. Now make a copy of your picture (so you can resize it) and resize the 1 inch marks on the ruler in the picture to be exact with photoshops 1 inch ruler guides. And that's all, you now have that template the exact size you need it to be. Once I had all the templates sized I then made one large document in photoshop. I put all the templates on that one document, organized them and moved them where i want them. Then I started to make the cut lines with the pen tool. The rest of this I am sure you already know. Here is what my template looked like when I pieced it all together. By the way all my graphics I do are usually 150 dpi or 300 dpi.

After using photoshop for two hours here is the finished design.

And here is the finished product. A killer looking WaveRunner that is ready for the water. Hope you enjoyed my small template making tutorial and if you have any questions feel free to email me. As far as prices (start to finish) for custom work like this on a Jet Ski I usually charge $900 if I have to make the template and $700 if I don't. That also includes artwork and install. Boats, ATV, MX bikes are all different prices of course.
